Programme Joint Leader - MA Social Practice and the Creative Environment, Limerick School of Art and Design.
This MA programme is distinctive in that; It is focused on Social Practice; It is delivered through theory and practice; It is open to practitioners of art and design; It is also open to experienced graduates outside of the art and design fields.
The MA SPACE programme is tailored towards the development of a sustainable practice for our graduates rather than training in certain media or genres, challenging students to think conceptually through a strong theoretical and critical grounding and work creatively in new ways in the area of social practice.
The programme is delivered by both LSAD staff and a varied range of national and international visiting lecturer specialists through an exciting mix of active learning, field research and engagement in the wider world.

SpiritStore Art Project -Founder and Director

A Social Art Project with a floating membership of practitioners. SpiritStore is an ongoing art project. It has evolved practicing within a broad cultural framework, articulated through a number of collaborative, participatory, and interventionist methods. The project operates in conjunction with groups, from cultural practitioners and institutes, to business owners and organisations, and invites audiences and collaborators to engage in specific meaningful ways. To date projects include, the SpiritStore Art Café at the Sarsfield Bar 2009, Packet and Tripe at ev+a 2010, SpiritStore CATDIG at ev+a 2010 and the SpiritStore Poetry Depot in collaboration with Inkstorm 2011/12.

Background

Dr. Marilyn Lennon is an artist, an interaction designer and educator. She has exhibited extensively and is founder and co-director of the SpiritStore art project . 




She is Programme Joint Leader for the MA in Social Practice and the Creative Environment at the Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick Institute of Technology. 
As a lecturer she is experienced in a broad range of Art and Design disciplines and has been postgraduate academic advisor at a number of international Interaction Design in Public Spaces events including, The Siena Design Project, Italy, ’03 and 04, and the Convivio International Summer Schools, Romania and Sweden ’05 and ’07 and Split Interactions, Croatia ’08. Collaborative projects carried out in Sweden ’07 and Croatia ’08 with designers, postgraduate students and the public were awarded the Grand Prix at the Zagrebacki Salon ’09, the highest Croatian award for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture

Her Interaction Design research interests are Interaction Design for Public Spaces and the contribution Artists and Designers make in interdisciplinary and collaborative projects. She has managed and consulted on several interdisciplinary Interaction Design research projects at the Interaction Design Centre, University of Limerick, Ireland. From there she has published journal, conference, and workshop papers as well as project reports and has obtained two patents. 

Her PhD explored how expertise in Art and Design practice is used to support and facilitate participants in Participatory Design sessions.
