Professional Statement

I have always been interested in the area of optical illusions and visual realty in the tradition of painting. My early training was influenced by the classical style of painting. My studio practice and research led me study artists such as Gerhard Richter and other appropriation artists. I wrote my thesis on Gerhard Richter and investigated how his work redefined painting.

Sometimes the visual imagery I work from comes from a quiet visual dialect and convey feelings of memory or thoughts or even time or space. I like to examine and illustrate these ideas within the mediums of Painting and 2D Computing. My work explores the concepts of visual reality and representation in the forms of Painting and Photography. I use different methods of montage to produce my work. The subjectmatter of my work is sometimes appropriates from tradtional subjects as still life, Landscape etc.
