`Art is a way of working. And when effective, art is a way of looking at the world anew`
Fiona Whelan`s educational art projects, give children and young people the chance to become familiar with the practice, process and ideas of contemporary visual art. They are thus enabled to acquire artistic knowledge, skills and competencies, and encouraged to reflect upon their position in society and express their own views.
Fiona`s projects depart from the interests, social dilemmas and the living environment of its target groups. Her projects stimulate in its participants the development of a consciousness about the influence they can exert on the culture of their own neighbourhood or city.
The projects are based on the conviction that children and young people have a natural inclination for exploration, experimentation and a sense of wonderment. Through her projects Fiona would like to stimulate this capacity.
To enable her projects she has set up the foundation DREAM DEPOT.
According to the views of Dream Depot, art is concerned with posing questions, searching for answers, doubting, trying out, experimenting, deciding that it can be done in a better way and with starting anew.
