Upcoming Professional Development / Artists` Meeting in Roscommon, July 29th

Kids Own / Practice.ie in association with Roscommon County Arts Office is offering a professional development day for artists working with children and young people. The day is designed to give artists an opportunity to network and share practice with others doing similar work. Artists of all disciplines and at all stages of their career, who work with children and young people, are welcome to this day-long event. Through this professional development day and the Practice.ie research project in general, Kids Own aims to make visible the exciting and extensive work that is ongoing between artists and children and young people and to give a voice to artists working in this area and to try to support them in their practice. The day involves;

  • Invited artists presentations - Tunde Toth will talk about the setting up of the Kozo Art Club; Andy Parons will discuss his practice

  • Artist-led workshops - Tunde will bring you though the process of silk paper making; Andy will lead an exploratory workshop

  • Opportunities for networking and for formal discussion around artists practice working with children and young people

  • Training session on promoting your work online; a practical workshop providing you with the knowledge and skills about how to best promote your work on line using a "small pieces approach" employing free services to help people find you and your work: Flickr, Vimeo and Twitter. During this session we will discuss the challenges and advantages of promoting your work online. Led by Heather James.
