Across the border bridging the gap- Tipperary

Last week at Rathcabbin school - A very inspiring day, a lot of it spent in discussion with the young people in the group. They had all brought in objects which linked in to their family histories. A, watch, a great grandmothers hat, a birth certificate from the 1940`s an old camera... really inspiring and symbolic objects. Another was an old Irish penny twinned with an old penny from England. We discussed subjects from the importance of the radio as a means of communication to immigration and family history in every dimension. I got the children photographing their own object against a white back ground. And we then watched a slide show of their work.

We then took a trip out side to photograph trees, which I hope to use later and get them printing in some form or another ( family tree link ). I was delighted by their attention and response to the project. We also enjoyed a visit from Orla Kenny ( Kidsown ).
Also making an application for an Artspace studio today, so I can use my practice and process days to the fullest there and hope to link in with the class through use of webcam. I will have to work out how to set this up technically yet..
