Day 5 puppet portal phase 2

Today we looked closer to home at europe. There where 4 kids from 5 to 12 in the morning session. We looked at czech puppets and the children decided what kind of puppet to make, there was a pinoccio, a woody, a ballarina and a horse. 2 of the children made a backdrop looking at europe but it was very french with an eiffel tower and a french market.

We then attatched the back drop to too tables and they puppeteered from behind. The puppets danced . it was great fun making the puppets, however they got all tangled up while we where stringing them but we sorted it out as the show must go on. I think they where very good at moving the puppets but next time we make a stage like this there needs to be more room for them to move around . I really liked watching there show.

In the afternoon, i went and worked in the isolation wards. The first a boy wanted to make a station for his tractors(i know not tecnically a puppet)  but he loves lego tractors and we made a base for them to live.

Then I went and worked with a girl also in isolation, i have never come across anyone so excited before. it was great as last year un beknown to me ,she had wanted to make a puppet, but i was in with some one else and she had wanted to make one since. She knew alot about puppets and started telling me all about the lamberts, she made a princess marrionette , i decided to give her my test one i made last night so she could play with the two of them and she made a castle backdrop. She told me all about the princess`s life while we made the puppet and backdrop. We played on the bed with the two puppets. She wants to be a puppeteer, so maybe in ten years she can work for helium :). Her mom had gone for a break during the workshop, she came back at end and was delighted with what her daughter had made, she said the project was fantastic. A lovely way to finish the day.
