day 10 puppet portal phase 2
on the last day as we had been journing around the world we decided to join santa and travel the whole world with him. we made lots of boys and girls puppets using some christmas materials tinsel wire, some snowy fabric and paper heads. We joined there knees so the legs could move. We had a similar aged group and they got on very well, we had one very shy little girl of 4 with her mom but she was very independant and made a lovely puppet.
We then drew up a lovely backdrop with santa flying over the world, some children wanted every country drawn and others where happy to make up countrys so we had a puppet country and we had a country that was made up of every letter from the other countrys, also peppa pig got a country as big as africa.
We lost a few people for the play but those left played alots and hardly any off it mentioned santa or the backdrop but was all very playfull. two of the kids had made up a santa song the day before and they taught the others and the puppets sang the song.
We then linked up with crumlin and we sang them are song and there puppets sang us a song,a lovely link up.
in the afternoon i headed out on the ward and made an angel with a teenager,it was very detailed and got loads of lovely comments by the nurses. she was making the manger out of recycling at school so maybe the angel will join them.
then one of the teacher trainys and i went to see some regular kids and they made a santa and an elf ,they where on either side of a room so we went back and forth with sissors and tape , was great having the help.
There where two trainee teachers helping they where a great help and they said they would be making the puppets in schools.
Cant believe phase 2 is over it went so fast. Was a great ten weeks.:)
