An adventure…
….since my first day at Castlefinn I have been thinking the challenges of the wide open gym space where the parent and toddler meetings are held. I decided that I would create a number of smaller spaces that the children could interact and engage with, while moving through the entire space.
Using the story “We Are Going On A Bear Hunt”, I created six new environments that allowed us to move throughout the gym, exploring materials, textures and stories along the way. Our journey led us to the forest where we made birds for the trees through painting and collage activities. This focused activity is always followed by a snack and free play. It was a highlight for me today when the toys the children usually played with were abandoned and they returned to their “Bear Hunt”, spending time exploring each space in greater detail.
