Day 3 - Considering Skill
The children have expressed ideas for moving 3D maps. The ideas are exciting, but I think we should take some time to build up some skill in movement and animation in relation to 3D in order to have the best possible scope for successfully manifesting the ideas.
As it stands, the contact days are quite busy and fast-paced compared to how I work in the studio. I think that more experimenting with media and materials to build up skill should be added. I would usually take time for this both in the studio and when working with groups, but this time I was eager to run with the children`s ideas without loosing their momentum!
We looked back over the sand images the children had taken, discussing how they would work or not work as animations when run together. Having agreed on what was not working, we tried again, with clay. We also created flip books and image-overlay animations.
