Day 4 - Changing Weather

Using paint, charcoal and colored chalk we made individual drawing experiments based on weather. These drawings were intended as strips of changing backgrounds to place and move within the 3D environments.

To clarify: the 3D environments idea came from a series of conversations at the end of previous sessions and have particularly grown out of phrases such as `weather play` and `shadow play`. Over the weeks the hows and whats of these structures have been mulled over. I have been trying out some things in the studio - finding materials to best fit the ideas. I have found a way to allow the imagery within the 3D spaces to move.

But when we looked at the weather drawings, we weren`t sure anymore if we wanted to cut them into strips! There was talk of leaving them intact and combining them into a large piece. But when combined some thought that they might be better cut up and mixed in position to `flow` better as a large piece.

Collectively looking at and discussing possibilities of a new piece of work from a made piece of work opens up new avenues for me for spontaneous collaboration.

While we were working, one Origami-expert in the class took the time to make a folded decoration from white paper. We placed on the window to see how the light would catch it. I looked at it after the children were gone and it seemed to offer possibilities for weather play on the windows......
