Day 6 - Drawing shades

As most of the morning was consumed with the journal entries we had less time than usual to make. I wanted to bring the children through some pencil, charcoal and monotone color exercises to open up ways of drawing and looking at light, considering their weather strips from two weeks before. In my own studio i am leaning toward drawing, print and returning to painted surface (though the video and photographic collections continue). I conducted a series of demonstrations which the children joined in on. Then individuals went with their note-books to observe cloud, sky, areas of light and dark etc. A lot of drawings of houses came back! I wanted to go through these exercises before carrying out the splitting and reconstructing of the weather strips - we still have to get a decision on this.
