Rhythm & Blues Day 5 Hospital F

Today was all about vocal puppets, homemade instruments and music videos.  And luckily so because sound is a big, big part of one of our participants lives as he does not have sight.  He takes delight in being surrounded by sound, melody and interaction and brightened up our musical band with some rainmaker shakers.  Two zany puppets with peg mouths created a Rap and performed it so many times for everyone who came to see that it became the playroom anthem for the day.

In the afternoon, these two puppets created a story for a pop-up book documenting their stay in hospital. We had lots of adventures gathering photos for the book; travelling to far flung quarters of the ward never before encountered and meeting exotic (helpful receptionists) and indigenous creatures (friendly doctors) enroute.  One lovely doctor with an angel on her stethoscope examined both puppets with great care before they returned to journal their travels in the playroom.

This was my last day in this hospital (thats why there are blues in this title!) and Eszter will take over from now on.  Over lunch there was a discussion with a couple of members of staff about how best to develop longer term interactions by artists on the wards - a very positive way conclusion to this residency.

So I wish everyone there lots of joy and fun making and performing into the future. :)
