Evaluating our work through O.R.I.D.

We briefly explored a process called O.R.I.D. which enables anyone to reflect on their work through a four-step process: Objective; Reflective; Interpretive and Decisional.

In a similar way to the Edward de Bono’s six thinking hats, it allows for reflection that is more structured, and where emotive response does not take over or cloud the analysis.

We asked the members of the group to choose a project or workshop, or something they had done recently within their own practice and to reflect critically on it through the O.R.I.D. process.

When asked to feed back one word or phrase that they wrote (in any of the categories), here were some of the responses:

"Environmental factors"

"Often first session of the day, energy of the group is sluggish."

"Spend longer in discussion before painting."

"Important to have guidelines."

"Set goals and stick to them"

"Well focused but as time went on mushroomed out and lost focus."
