Evaluation activity

Again, as we did during our day in West Cork, we presented artists with ORID - a simple reflective process, which enable them to reflect on a piece of work or project by separating the facts from the emotions, and identify the learnings and the decisions.

We used the ORID to do this:
Objective - What are the facts? What happened?
Reflective - what are the emotions? How did it feel?
Interpretative - what are the key insights/ learnings that can be taken away.
Decisional - What will you do next? What are the decisions?

After discussing this, we gave each artist 10-15 minutes to use the ORID to evaluate a recent project/activity.

We then asked the following questions:

One word or phrase that you wrote (from any part of your ORID)?

"Be flexible and rearrange structure if needed"

"Breaking boundaries and doing what other people say can’t be done..."

"The teacher’s understanding of our creative language was completely different. They speak a different language. Always concept check."

"Be more aware of age group and their limitations."

"Hard to get focus and not allow rudeness - to set boundaries and to channell energy."

"Dynamic of working with the collective - every young person is an individual within that."

How did it feel to do the ORID exercise?

"Relief"

"Satisfying"

"Sense of clarity"

"Positive"

Key insights:

"Made me realise that I’m doing things right."

"We have huge expectations of ourselves - it’s a good exercise for showing yourself the regard that you show to others/ participants."
