Professsional Learning day with artists_DUBLIN

Practice.ie were delighted to deliver a third Professional Learning Day for artists working with children and young people as part of our tour to connect, engage and reflect with artists across the country about their practice.

This Practice.ie Tour coincided with the Young Makers Tour (an international exhibition of work by young contemporary artists), which was developed and delivered by Kids’ Own in partnership with:

West Cork Arts Centre; Kilkenny Arts Office; Temple Bar Cultural Trust (through its Scene not Herd programme); and; South Dublin County Council (through its NOISE South Dublin programme).

The structure of the professional learning day was as follows:

- Pecha Kucha presentations from 15 participating artists;

- 2 Reflective activities followed by focused discussion;

- Break out discussion groups. Discussions focused around the following questions:

: How do you view your role when working with children and young people;
: How do you view the child;
: How do you make choices and decisions when working with children and young people, in terms of the direction of the work and choosing themes?

More about each part of the day in the next few blogs...
