Abhainn Rí Festival Closing River Ceremony 2012
In the spirit of the Festival of Lughnasa where cattle were traditionally bathed to protect them from the coming year, a herd of cattle heads floated down the river leading thirty burning rafts containing the children’s secrets and dreams for the river. The children chanted their anthem of the river from a lower bank and the crowd from the bridge answered their verse.
