Barbara O’Meara: A Special Wish List
I wish we could create and maintain a sense of awe and wonder in all children from the earliest age in colour, light, sparkle, sunshine, comedy, flowers, the spoken word, the sung song, the rice shakers, dance and movement. The world would be so happy and joyful.
I wish that a book would once again be seen by children as a very prized possession. That the seannachai and storytellers everywhere would be valued for their precious art and that we could all hear and listen once more in this fast moving electronic world.
Let not the noise of rush hour dim the beauty of the church chimes
Let not the ocean liner crush the lapping waters at the waters edge
Let not the roar of the jet plane take away the wonder of the soaring bird
Let not the speed of busy life deafen us to the early utterances of the very young baby
May we always have time to stop and stare in Awe and Wonder.
