Today...shelved plans

Today was a day of abandoned plans our walking tour of Killeely was shelved till next week, as our guide was selected to go on a school visit to LIT....good for her and time to regroup for us...
Half of our group always arrives early and the other half late, a perennial problem for "turn up" after school activities. This inevitably means we have a stop go period at the beginning of each session,  the Learning Hub is relaxed about timekeeping, they are delighted to see the kids coming under their own steam and encouragement is one of their primary goals. The emphasis is on making the children feel welcome. My goals are
prioritised rather differently, I have a big work ethic and high expectations of participation from all members. So much depends on how we set out at the start, I find that however much I try to adapt the plan to fit the flow there is always backtracking when kids arrive late.....mmmm.... and this gives rise to the dilemma that more demanding kids inevitibly get more attention.
Out of the chaos there is an equilibrium of sorts established by the kids themselves, one of our team arrived with five character cards she had been working on over the weekend, Respect!!! She has grabbed herself the director`s chair and is a continuing inspiration for the whole team.
