Puppet Portal - Hospital C - Day 8
The third travelling puppet Moonwalker arrived today. He inspired many colourful puppet friends. Only two participants today and attended for only a short time in the workshop so opportunity to develop performances was limited.
One child did a `karaoke` performance with a rod puppet along to `Supercalifragilistic`. This child loves working with computers so one of his highlights was editing the video of the show and putting a sound effect on the voice of his puppet. This delighted him and made him less self conscious to invite his parents to view video.
Another child had just time enough to create Little Mouse and interview him on his life in the Rainforest of Brazil......just touching on our intercultural theme and then disappearing.
The spare time in between allowed me to discuss the project with the teacher. One interesting point was the lack of specific material in the primary school curriculum (developed in 1999) on the theme of inter/multi-culturalism. It seems many teachers rely on external resources to explore this area.
I tested a new form of evaluation today - `The Fun Scale`. A simple card barometer design that participants could adjust to rate the various parts of the process.
