  • Make Art Not Rubbish

    Created 2010-01-14 by Sarah Beirne

    Location: Urban - Co. Dublin

    Duration: 2010-01-14 to 2011-05-17

Project Outline

This was a Secondary School art project sponsored by Vodafone Ireland.

Over a seven week period well known artist and sculptor Cris Neumann facilitated the creation of 3D works by secondary school students in two Dublin 15 schools. This educational and environmentally innovative visual arts project aimed to explore Vodafone Irelands Green Agenda Policy and the concepts of communication, mobility and technology and how these concepts can work in the reduction and recycling of waste. The art works resulting from the project generated zero waste by being produced from Vodafone Irelands recycled materials. The process worked to educate students about the importance of environmental awareness, while giving them an opportunity to improve creatively explore, imagine and create works using recycled materials.

The project culminated in an exhibition and opening in Draochts First Floor Gallery before travelling to   Vodafone Ireland HQ for display during their Recycling awareness week.
