  • Having a BLAST

    Created 2021-12-13 by Alison Glennie

Location: Clonakilty, Cork - Co. Cork

    Duration: 2021-12-13 to 2022-03-11

Project Outline

Alison Glennie created a hybrid approach to the delivery of the BLAST programme at Kilgarriffe N S,  exploring visual arts through drama. She worked alongside the teaching principal, Susan Hanbidge, at Kilgarriffe National School in West Cork. A collaborative, mixed media collage was born out of the pupil’s imaginations, while exploring the natural world through their theatre games. Alison facilitated multiple sessions during the Spring term, which were delivered outdoors, during a period of pandemic restrictions; this allowed for the enjoyment of greater freedoms. A short film was produced which aims to document the process.(Viewable on Vimeo).

The BLAST Arts-in-Education Residency is funded by the Department of Education and supported by West Cork Education Centre and the Creative Ireland Programme.
