  • Shadow Puppet Film making with 2nd Year Students

    Created 2013-05-14 by Niamh Lawlor

Location: Margaret Aylward Community School, Whitehall, Dublin 9 - Co. Dublin

    Duration: 2013-05-14 to 2013-05-16

Project Outline

The students worked with the Art and English Teacher in advance to my coming. It was decided that they would interpret two stories written by the English Teacher. They did some work on storyboard and design before I arrived. I showed them various puppets and did some informal performance as an introduction to my work and then showed them some shadow puppets, again in the context of improvised performance, to introduce them to the possibilities of the form. On the first day we concentrated on making puppets and sets and on the second on performance and filming. We used overhead projectors as our light source so most set elements were placed on these and most puppets were worked directly on the screen.

I am waiting for permission to post the film
