Project Outline

2010 saw the opening of the `Green Gallery` in Colaiste Bride, Clondalkin, Dublin. The project was funded by `Creative Engagement` which in 2005 was set up and is still managed by the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD). The scheme promotes a partnership approach to the promotion and development of the arts in second-level schools, based upon positive interaction between learner, teacher, and artist. The programme also emphasises pupil-centred teaching and learning.

This project was undertaken by 15 selected art students from first, second, fourth and fifth year and led by Louise Ronan with support from the three art teachers and Tori Durrer Youth arts officer of South Dublin Co. Co. Artist Jane Fogarty completed eight workshops with the girls exploring the idea of `Home` through media such as photography, watercolor, drawing in space and collage. The students were involved in all stages of the creative process , from the development of ideas to the curation of the exhibition. The gallery now acts as a space for sharing creative projects throughout the school calendar, with a changing program of events.
