Project Outline

"Autumn play" is a theatre and play based project in a nursery setting, involving one puppeteer, two nursery teachers and 6 children ages 2 to 3. For a week, the artist initiates 1 hour long explorative and theatrical sessions. These aim to create a space where all involved can explore and engage with themes of autumn. using natural materials, words, sounds, puppets, movement, the sensorial, the space - in a playful and creative atmosphere.

Daily evaluation meetings between the artist and the Early Years teachers allow for a process-driven progress of the project. They also provide a designated space to address questions and ideas about collaboration, the roles of  artist and nursery teacher, and to gain insight & inspiration and exchange competencies.

On the Friday, parents, siblings and a number of nursery teachers who also work in the setting are invited to participate in a final afternoon session. Thus sharing the project with important partners in the childrens creative development.

On occasion of my current guest editorship, i will be blogging about this project on practice.ie. For me, this his will also be a valuable further means of documenting and processing the project.
