    Duration: 2013-06-10 to 2013-06-10

Project Outline

A day away for artists who work with children to socialise, connect, play, question and get inspiration from one another.

This event marked the end of the pilot Practice European Artists Network project, which brought together 8 artists from Estonia, Hungary & Ireland and aimed to explore the value of peer support networks and online connectivity, for meeting the needs of artists in their ongoing professional learning and practice with children and young people.

The Practice European Artists Network was delivered by Kids’ Own/ Practice.ie in partnership with Sligo Arts Service, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, & Sally Stuudio in Tallinn and was funded by the Arts Council’s EU Local Partnership Scheme. We are also grateful to The Model, Sligo, and The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children, Dublin, for offering their space and resources to us in-kind for this project.

The artists participating in the Practice European Artists Network were: Naomi Draper (IRE); Rita Farkas (HUN); Anna Leask (IRE); Hajni Miklós (HUN); Jane Remm (EST); Hando Tamm (EST); Kristina Tamm (EST); and Kate Wilson (IRE).

During the "Day Away for Artists" these artists were invited to deliver an experiential workshop that reflected their own approach to working with children and young people, within the contexts that they are currently working. Some work in instructive / educational contexts, others in gallery contexts, and others within community settings.

Here, we share with you some of the processes and outcomes from the day.
