Project Outline

This project has been developed by the Dun Laoghaire Arts office. A panel of twelve Artists were selected to work with participating primary schools from Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown. area.

This residency gave the children at primary school level an opportunity to work directly with an active Artist. This opportunity allows for the students, teacher and the artist to collaborate together to produce new work.

The theme of the programme for 2008/2009 was based on the cognitive process of learning, "The premise that creativity is not separate from academia but rather an essential characteristic of thinking, knowing and learning."

Therefore within this project the Artists were encouraged to work closely with the teacher to produce a programme that both stimulated the group mentally and creatively. This project did not have to follow a formal adgenda of working toward a finished piece. The process by which the outcome was attained was considered as valuable as an end product. Therefore the direction the project emerged organicly in responce to the interests and enthusiasm of it`s members.
