Cathy O’Kennedy - Dance as a tool for social integration

The last presentation of the day was given by Cathy O’Kennedy, a Kildare-based dance practitioner and founder of Fluxusdance. Cathy spoke about her involvement in the Castlefen Dance Project, which aimed to achieve some degree of social integration between new and old communities in this town. What was interesting was Cathy’s honesty in addressing the difficulties that she encountered and the resistance from both communities to come together into a shared space through dance.
