Creating paintings for the installation

Description

In the second to last week we came back to painting again. I was interested to see how moving the shapes physically might feed into going back and painting them. We used big sheets of paper to allow more movement in the action of painting. Before starting everyone selected a small square from their original painting to scale up for the new one. The children enjoyed spending some time selecting the part of the painting they were going to use and it brought up some interesting discussions about composition. It was great to see how confidently the children worked at this last set of paintings, using big bold brush marks to create a new work. These paintings were hung in the hall as part of a final installation on the last day. They produced 16 square paintings that we hung together to make one large 3meter square piece.
