Session 2 In Graiguenamanagh

On Friday morning I had the second session.  Unfortunately the class didn`t get to go on their walk to the well on Brandon Hill  but I still used the idea of walking up Brandon Hill from the town and used some of the stories that Sister Aileen had told the previous week such as where children of the town used to be taught and how 1 day a year all the schools would close for the children to go up Brandon fraughen (bilberry)  picking.

As there are 25 children I divided them into 5 groups of 5  to work on a panel each., No. 1 is the bridge in Graigue, 2- the hegde schools, 3- a pathway with Brandon in the backgorund, 4 - frauhgen picking 5- the summit..

Any concerns I had about having them working in groups went out the window within 15 minutes, they talked to each other about what tools to use to make texture and even though I had given them images to work from they were adding in animals hilkers etc.  I had them draw up a final design sheet and after a demo got them working on the panels.  They were really excited about them possibly be hung up in the new entrance hall soon to be built.

Best part so far has to be one girl telling me she was made to make with clay!!
