Session 3 in Graiguenamanagh

I had my 3rd session at the school on Friday, we finished the wall panels which I`ve taken back to the studio to dry out and fire.  Had a bit of a shock when I turned round and saw that one group had taken all the decoration off their panel and had decided to start again!  But the idea of the design process seems to have stuck with them and they had a plan and it worked out well.

After a break I got the children to draw the panels on paper as they had made them and record all the ways they created the texture while I took groups of 5 to the pottery wheel gave them a quick demo and then a go each.  This seemed to be the thing they have gotten most excited about and they are quite an excitable group! I got through 2 groups of 5 and will hopefully get through the other 3 groups of 5 next session.

In the next 2 sessions we are going to paint the portraits with poster paint and then pva that they made in the first session in air dry clay.  I thought that air dry clay would be cost effective for the school.  Make their prep drawings etc into sketchbooks and then put together an exhibition in the school.  And I must remember to take photos!
