New Sites New Fields: Leitrim Sculpture Centre
Day 1. 13th November 2008.
Location: Leitrim Sculpture Centre, New Line, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim.
I organised a gallery visit to L.S.C for the children to view an exhibition of diverse works that responded to the changing notion of `landscape` from both a political to a social context. I have new work in this exhibition and felt it was a great opportunity for the children to see this on show and for me to speak about the ideas and materials that were employed. I brought the children around the gallery space and introduced them to all of the artists exhibits, teasing out ideas that they may respond or inspire them at a later date. Sketch-books were handed out to each child to draw and explore any aspects of the exhibited work and which will be discussed at our next group-meet.
