    Duration: 2010-09-01 to 2010-10-31

Project Outline

In this blog (as part of my Practice.ie guest editorship) I will talk about my own practice of working on art projects with young people. As a case study I will take the ongoing project Dream Depot, which is currently entering its fourth phase. The fourth phase is now at the early research and planning stage. For phase three of this project and currently for phase four I have / am collaborating with another artist, Anja Hertenberger.

I will start by introducing the project`s completed phases (1,2 and 3) and then in more detail discuss the point where we are now and what has brought us to that point. I therefore hope to be able to describe the forces that shape the artistic practice as well as the project itself.

The first matter that I will discuss is, the fragility, the practicalities and the dilemmas faced when working as an artist with young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, And also what it has meant to work with the organisations such as youth centers which provided the access to the young people involved in the project.

The second matter I want to talk about in later in this blog will be, what fascinates both myself and Anja in our work as artists. In doing so, I can show how the planning and research stage of phase four of the project develops over the coming months in preparation for a funding application.
For example:
How this stage of the project is being formed as a direct consequence of the first three phases.
What triggers our artistic investigations, both practical and theoretical?
And how our ideas (both individually and collaboratively) are generated from this.
And of course how we process these ideas.
