Day 5 A day at the beach.

Second last day. We had to  do some more  work on the Wall hanging and I was keen to get some work from the children that they had worked on with as little adult intervention as possible.

After doing more on the Dove with the childrens hands piece, we discussed what the children enjoyed and we went for a beach scene. We brainstormed things we might see or find on a beach or in the sea.

The children did preliminary drawings and we all painted a background in Acrylic on cotton and then they did what they thought should be either in the sea, on the sea or on the beach So A day at the seaside was what we did. Initially we were going to divide in half but now am not so sure.

The children were very specific about what they wanted in and how much they wanted to do themselves. One boy did  a lovely seagull and I could not persuade him to do another. He had done enough!

Next week we will finish up and do our evaluation.  We intend toput the work up in the hall of the school for another day when the whole school will come long to view it. We discussed inviting parents but as many of the children come by bus and from long distances this seems not to be possible. We still have to have our visit to the gallery as well.
